Both AusIMM Monograph 4 Economic Geology of New Zealand edited by Gordon Williams and Monograph 13 Mineral Deposits of New Zealand edited by David Kear have been out of print for some time. These publications, though of some age, are still excellent references and starting points for researching New Zealand's mines and mineral occurrences. They are still basic tools for those active in New Zealand's mining industry. Given their unavailability and the evolution of the print media, The AusIMM New Zealand Branch Committee decided it would be a valuable service to Branch members and the industry at large to have these references again available.

The digital versions are direct scans of the original hard copies and the CD has a useful search function which can be utilised as a research aid.

That these comprehensive references are still in great demand and recognised as the basic references on New Zealand's mineral record is a tribute to the dedication and thorough work of the original editors Gordon Williams and David Kear, and their legion of contributors.
