On behalf of The AusIMM, the organising committee is proud to present The Second AusIMM International Geometallurgy Conference 2013.
The discipline of geometallurgy has become increasingly recognised as an activity that reflects modern trends towards efficient project evaluation and optimisation. Geometallurgy seeks to integrate geoscientific disciplines with minerals and mining engineering. It aims to understand metallurgical variability based on information such as mineralogy, grade and lithology obtained from spatially distributed samples. In addition to the traditional grade model, block models now display the distribution of key parameters through the orebody to support metallurgical process modelling and mine planning and optimisation.
A key aspect of any effective geometallurgical program are multi-disciplinary teams, thus bringing together exploration and mining geologists, mining and geotechnical engineers, metallurgists and mineral process engineers, and mineral economists and risk specialists.
This three day conference will share geometallurgical research and best practice in a multidisciplinary environment. It will be hosted in the vibrant capital city of Brisbane, Queensland. The program includes one plenary session, five keynote speakers and forty-eight standard presentations. Topics to be covered include: ore characterisation and testing; orebody and variable modelling; geometallurgical programme design and application; mine planning; and case studies.
Various workshops will be incorporated within the program and the conference will be followed back-to back with World Gold 2013.
I invite you to register for GeoMet 2013 and look forward to welcoming you to Brisbane to what will be a timely and influential meeting.
