Member Fee Assistance (reduced rates) for 2017

The AusIMM offers a range of assistance and benefits to current AusIMM members who may be experiencing changes in their professional circumstances, unemployment or hardship.

Category Discount/Fee Eligibility Criteria and How to Apply
Member Assistance Program (MAP)

50% off the annual subscription

Available to existing members who:

  • Have been unemployed for the last 6 months and experiencing financial hardship
  • Have not been on MAP for more than 3 years

Member Assistance Program (MAP)

Graduate 1st year
$16.50 Student fee

Available to Student members who have graduated but not yet secured employment in the minerals industry.

Graduates Engaged (GEN) $16.50 Student fee

Available to second and third year graduate members who are working outside the industry or have returned to study.

Parental leave 75% off the annual subscription

Available to members who are on parental leave

Retired 50% off the annual subscription

Available to members with at least five years of paid subscription who have reached the age of 55 and have retired or substantially retired from professional practice.

Return-to-study 75% off the annual subscription

Available to existing members and new members who have worked in the minerals sector for more than three years and have left full-time employment to undertake an undergraduate degree, Masters or PhD study.

Postgraduate $68.20 (equivalent to Graduate first year fee)

Available to Masters and PhD students who have not had previous professional experience in the minerals sector or have worked in the minerals sector for less than three years.

Overseas member 75% off the annual subscription

Available to professionals employed on salaries that reflect national standards in their country of operation but are significantly lower than those of their international colleagues.

You must be paid fully in the local currency of the country you are working in and have a gross salary of less than $A40,000 per annum in 2017. Expatriates are not eligible for this rate.

First year graduates can apply to stay on the student rate of $16.50 for 2017 until they secure employment in the minerals industry and also receive:

Graduates Engaged (GEN) Inclusions

GEN is available to second and third year graduates only who are experiencing difficulties due to the downturn in industry activity, including being forced to work outside the industry or return to study.

These members can apply to receive the student rate of $16.50 for 2017. Please note the student rate does not include a hard copy of the Bulletin magazine.

Academics

Additional benefits are available to members employed by universities and university research organisations. Full membership fees apply, but the following benefits are available:

  • 50% off the member price for one AusIMM conference per year
  • 50% off the member price for one AusIMM organised PD course per year
  • 50% off the member price of one publication per year.
