Excellence in Mining and Mine Management & Best Practice JORC Reporting: Winning Investor Confidence - AusIMM hosted streams at IMARC

The AusIMM is proud to be a founding partner of the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC), held in Melbourne on 22-26 September. An initiative of the Victorian Government, the conference was jointly organised by the Victorian Government; AusIMM; Austmine; the Minerals Council of Australia and Mines and Money.

The conference and associated industry exhibition attracted 2000 delegates and 70 exhibitors as well as a number of significant industry and government figures as keynote speakers.

Two major streams at the conference were developed and hosted by the AusIMM:

  1. ‘Excellence in Mining and Mine Management’. This successful stream focussed on the importance of technical skills, knowledge management, monitoring and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  2. ‘Best Practice JORC Reporting: Winning Investor Confidence’. This excellent stream focussed on the importance of the Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves (the JORC Code).

On behalf of The AusIMM and the stream organising committees, we thank all those who attended IMARC and we look forward to seeing you again at IMARC 2015!

IMARC Student Poster Display

The CSIRO and AusIMM invited minerals industry university students from all over Australia to participate at the inaugural International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC), to display their research and showcase what the future of the Australian minerals industry holds.

25 posters were accepted and displayed within the IMARC exhibition from Tuesday 23 September to Thursday 25 September 2014.

CSIRO judged and awarded Kashyapa Sirinanda, University of Melbourne, as the author of the poster which best embodies Australia’s innovative approach to the minerals sector. Mr Sirinanda’s poster was titled ‘Underground mine access design to maximise the net present value’. He was presented with a trophy and $500 price from Hun Gan, Flagship Business Director at the CSIRO.
