AusIMM Congress 2010 will be held from
14-16 May 2010 in Wollongong NSW.
The Role of Congress, as the prime
representative body of The AusIMM, is to elect the President from the
democratically elected Directors; review the progress in the implementation of
the Strategic Plan presented to the previous Congress and make recommendations
for change; review and approve the Strategic Plan for the following year;
Identify and discuss any existing or emerging issues of interest or concern.
Congress 2009 was held from Friday 22 May to
Sunday 24 May 2009 at the Red Earth Hotel, Mount Isa Queensland. Hosted by The
North West Queensland Branch, the theme for this year’s Congress was
‘Maximise services – Minimise risks’ .
The AusIMM Congress 2009 was attended by more
than 50 delegates representing Branches, Committees, Societies, Student
Chapters, the AusIMM Board and AusIMM Services. Delegates made presentations to
the Congress on a wide range of issues of interest to AusIMM members and
critical to the continued success of the Institute. A series of workshop
discussions provided direction to the Board and AusIMM Services on the
priorities to be addressed in the Institute’s strategic planning for 2010 and
beyond.

Annual General Meeting
The AusIMM Annual General Meeting was held at
9.00am on Sunday 24 May at the Red Earth Hotel, Corner of Rodeo Drive & West
Street, Mount Isa.
Delegates to The AusIMM Congress and Annual General Meeting
held in Mount Isa (Qld) on 22-24 May re-elected incumbent AusIMM President Greg
Chalmers to that position for a second term in 2010.
Congress delegates strongly endorsed an application by the
Illawarra Branch of The AusIMM to host the 2010 Congress at Wollongong (NSW).
