How to apply for membership (including reinstatement)

The first step in applying for AusIMM membership is deciding which grade of membership is right for you.

When submitting an application you will need to provide:

  • Personal details including name, email address and date of birth
  • Contact details and signatures from your sponsors*
  • Verified evidence of education (sponsors may verify by signature)
  • Verification of professional experience (sponsors may verify by signature)
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Payment of the subscription fee and any applicable application fee
*May not be required for reinstatement applications.

Receipt of application will be confirmed by email. All membership applications are reviewed by the Membership Applications Committee for completeness and eligibility prior to approval by The AusIMM Board.

Subscription fees

All prices are in Australian dollars. The membership subscription year runs from January 1 through to December 31.

All applications for admission received after 1 July will be invoiced at 50% of the annual subscription fee (excluding student applications). Application fees (for admission or reinstatement) will not be discounted.

Annual subscription renewals - annual subscriptions are payable by 1st January each year and members that remain in arrears will be suspended and then removed from the Register.

All other subscription invoices - payment must accompany applications for admission or grade transfer.

  • Application Fees
    Applications for admission or reinstatement to the grade of Fellow, Member, Associate or Company attract an application fee of A$55.00 inc GST (non-residents of Australia pay A$50.00). There is no fee payable for application or reinstatement to the grade of Student or Graduate.

  • Application Cancellations
    All applications received for admission or reinstatement that are terminated or expired prior to election to membership will incur a A$55.00 (includes GST) administration fee prior to refund. (In the case of student applications no refund will be made.)

  • Grade Transfer Fees
    There are no fees for grade transfer; however any difference in subscription fee applicable to the higher grade must be paid at the time of application.

How to transfer membership grade

Applications for grade transfer should be submitted on the standard application forms above. Students transferring to the grade of Graduate should complete the Graduate Application Form; Graduates transferring to Member grade should complete the Member Application Form, etc.

Depending upon the grade to which you are transferring, you may be required to provide:

  • contact details and signatures from your sponsors
  • verified evidence of education (sponsors may verify by signature)
  • verification of professional experience (sponsors may verify by signature)
  • current curriculum vitae
  • payment of the relevant subscription fee
