Scholarships
The AusIMM Education Endowment Fund (EEF) Scholarships were
established to support the future leaders of the minerals industry through their
higher education studies. The Scholarships are currently valued at $8,000 per
year for a standard EEF scholarship, and $14,000 per year for a Sir Frank
Espie/Rio Tinto scholarship.
As well as
receiving financial support over two years, students receive the invaluable
benefits of mentoring and networking opportunities with a major minerals
company. That is, companies who have made major donations to the Education
Endowment Fund are allocated scholarship holders, and are encouraged to engage
the student with the industry through vacation work and other
initiatives.
Scholarships are awarded to
students based on the following criteria:
-
Knowledge of the minerals
industry
-
Minerals industry work experience
(vacation or part-time work)
-
Demonstrated commitment to the
minerals industry after graduation
-
Participation in AusIMM activities
(Student Chapters, Branch activities and conferences)
-
Participation in other
minerals-related societies
-
Academic results
-
Demonstrated team and leadership
skills (via sporting and community activities or other
activities)
Scholarships are currently valued at $8,000 per year over two
years and are supported by a variety of leading mining companies. Companies that
